The other day, I went out for some retail theraphy , on the way to the city I dropped by at the lib to get some pregnancy books - you know to learn a bit more about my future situation and I found this amazing and so funny book called: The Yummy Mummy Survival Guide by Liz Fraser. Let me share with you some of the things I have learned....
Things you should definitely do before it all starts:
1. Get Fit
The same goes for your back: strong back muscles will make baby carrying easier.
And also we should start toning up our pelvic floor muscles. Pelvic what???
Ha ha, now I got your full attention.
Your pelvic muscles are the ones which will allow you to stop weeing halfway through weeing. They ARE COMPLETELY TRASHED WHEN YOU GIVE BIRTH and unless you sit at your desk squeezing them in while your computer re-boots, you will never get on a trampoline again without incontinence pants.
2. Clean Yourself Out
Cut down on coffee - (hesitantly says ohhki) check
Drink less alcohol - I hardly drink but Singapore Sling once in awhile is not bad, is it?)Drugs - Not in this lifetime I'd do drugs
4. Take Folic Acid.
Top scientists have found very good evidence that taking 400 mg of this stuff for the first three months of pregnancy can significantly reduce the risk of your baby developing spina bifida. They now recommend to get your level up before you get pregnant, and that you take it throughout pregnancy.
5. Take a Special Multivitamins
Only take a multivitamin which is specifically designed for pregnancy. Certain vitamins are potentially harmful to the foetus if level gets too high.
Girls- did you really take special pre natal vitamins? Let me here what you did when you were preparing to get pregnant or when you heard that you are pregnant.
Honestly I feel like It's now easier for me to be disciplined in choosing what I eat, to be living healthy. I used to be really lazy in drinking my vitamins but now I don't forget it at all. It's like the discipline switch was turned on.
Anyway, the book The Yummy Mummy by Liz Fraser is really informational but not in a boring way. If you are planning to get knocked up too or already has a bun in the oven - this is definitely a book I can recommend.

When my wife was expecting our son we didn't alter anything (well she stopped smoking), we only drink occasionally (about two or three times a year) so stopping that wasn't a problem either.
She didn't take any vitamins, if you eat wholesome food - Weight watcher's great for that, not to loose weight but to get enough of everything in the food circle.
we didn't plan on having a baby... it just happened... i even drank 4 days before i learned i was pregnant (bad mommy!)... i didn't take prenatal vits... i couldn't even eat anything but i never threw up during my entire pregnancy... but that's just my experience... they forgot to mention that you should also relax and not feel stressed about getting pregnant... i hope you'll be blessed soon
hi jade =)
wow! you really sound serious in wanting to become a mom. yeah its true, pregnancy is gonna do a lot of changes to your body especially your tummy. before I got pregnant I did pilates regularly. it helps strengthen the abs! stay relaxed and don't let yourself get too stressed out about it =)
@gunnar - Ok thanks for sharing. I don't smoke and drink so I guess I am already on the right path:) I hardly Ehemm) eat junk foods, well maybe a pringles can very other week.(Is that bad?)
But I eat wholesome food I think. I don't eat pork and tries to eat loots of fruit and veg.
@ betchay - Hahaha I heard somwhere that occassional drinks is actually good for the baby. I dunno how true is that;) Thanks I do try to relax and enjoy the ride.Hehe
@ wendy - yeah at this point I am already sure I wanna be a mom. Thanks for the tip - I will try do some more work out. I won't stress I promise.
The best advice about trying to get pregnant is not to worry about it. The stress of trying to get pregnant really hinders the process. Good luck and I hope to hear an announcement soon! ;o)
i remnisce my pregnancy time, boy, that was tough, i had this pelvic instability, it was hurting everytime i move.
My wife ate anything that she can get her hands on...LOL
Hey Jade,
Wishing you best of luck!!! It took us a while for Hunter and if I had not gone to get things checked out it would have never happened!
Can't wait for the post that tells us you are expecting!
Hi sis! I already linked you to all my blogs! :)
Is good to take some vitamin prescribed by the doctor. Take care!
It helps make your pregnancy easier when you prepare your body before getting pregnant. There are also ways to increase fertility by eating certain foods, and exercise to reduce stress.
