No I am not pregnant yet! I just wanna talk about baby showers. Have you ever been to one? Baby shower is a great way to welcome an expecting woman to motherhood. It is a fun event especially for us girls, and no matter what the age is, we will always love parties, right?

If you have ever been invited to a baby shower, you know that there are 2 kinds of gifts you can give the new mommy: the gifts that are very practical stuff or the gifts that impress her and are totally useless. I think I would choose for the first one.

Sometimes what is "essential" for one mother can be completely pointless for another mom, so you have take that into consideration.

Let me give you some examples that I think will be really appreciated:
diapers,
diapers,
diapers - they will never complain about this
baby blankets,
Baby Bedding,
hooded towels,
Baby pillows
and baby crib sheets

In the Philippines there’s actually no baby shower but instead a party is held after the baby is born and is celebrated the same time the child is baptized.

This makes better sense since a baby shower is a celebration of the baby. This way guests actually enjoy seeing the baby who is being celebrated.

It's also much easier to find gifts because you already know the gender.

Is there anything you would like to add to this list? Would love to hear about it.

I agree with all these!! Practical is perfect and babies go through a lot of diapers! Happy New Year!

We don't have that over here (but we should!!!)...
Every thing was bought by...ME!
Well, my mom made some stuff and bought some stuff as well and so did my MIL...But 90% of everything was on me.
Only when the baby is born on the first visit to see him/her people take s little gift...
So I know what you mean! :)
xoxo

ps--When you get preggy I'll do something for your baby and I'll send it to you if you want me to. ;)

Another gift you can never go wrong with is baby soap/shampoo and baby lotion. I would have loved to have gotten more at my shower, since Brayden is now 17 months old and still uses both.

A great practical gift that will also impress is a diaper cake.

Also I am a big believer in having the baby shower after the baby is born after watching my sister have her heart broken 3 times from miscarriages.

I always give new moms onesie's; a kind of undershirt with little pants worn over a diaper. They are great!

Happy new year! Sorry medyo late na ko. you know having 3 little piglets. I can't be on the net always.
About your list... it's really practical. i agree with you.I just gave baby shower to a friend here. They don't practice it here though.
It was fun nothing too fancy it more on tea time. But our gifts are some cutie stuffs more on personalized. They love it.That's what really counts.

Girl - I couldn't agree more. We've always given practical gifts that we knew would get put to use with the new baby. But besides the gifts - one of the best parts of Baby Showers are the games!

TOO fun!
